Previously, the phenomenon of fish dying suddenly in Lake Ranau occurred in 2011.

The phenomenon of sudden fish deaths did not occur extensively at the time.only visible in the hot spring discharge area.

The death of this fish was caused by the release of sulfur gas (H2S gas) to the surface in the hot spring area.

It spreads in a number of directions based on the dominant current. The presence of H2S gas is related to the presence of geothermal (hydrothermal) manifestations.

This hydrothermal gas is trapped in the pocket at a certain time and will be released to the surface after pressure occurs due to disturbances such as tectonic earthquake shocks.

H2S exits through the weak zone, which is the point where hot water comes out.
