For those who don't know, Dyah Pitaloka Citraemi, or Cita Rashmi, is the daughter of the Sundanese King Maharaja Linggabuana Wisesa.
It is said that Dyah Pitaloka was the most beautiful woman at that time.
Then, according to the Pararaton or the books from Raja-Raka, Dyah Pitaloka should have married the new viceroy of the Majapahit Kingdom, Hayam Wuruk.
Hayam Wuruk is said to really want to marry Dyah Pitaloka to become his queen or empress.

But in the end, the marriage between Dyah Pitaloka and Hayam Wuruk had to be canceled because of the ambition of the Patih Gadjah Mada.
Patih Gadjah Mada had the ambition to rule all the kingdoms in the archipelago and even wanted Dyah Pitaloka to become a concubine in the Majapahit Kingdom.
Patih Gadjah Mada's ambition was to make the Kingdom of Sunda submit to the Kingdom of Majapahit.
Due to the Patih's ambition, King Hayam Wuruk was then confused about what decision he should make.

Long story short, the King of the Majapahit Empire finally complied with the will of the Patih Gadjah Mada and put his feelings aside, even though he really loved Dyah Pitaloka.
As a result of Pa'tih's will, a war broke out between the Kingdom of Sunda and the Kingdom of Majapahit, which is now known as the Bubat War.
In the Bubat War, the Sunda Kingdom had to swallow the bitterness of defeat, and this war was won by the Majapahit Kingdom.
Finally, after the Sunda Kingdom lost the war against the Majapahit Kingdom, Dyah Pitaloka chose to commit suicide as a form of honorary defense of the Sunda Kingdom. (*)
