Mount Leuser itself does not only have one peak but three peaks with different heights: the loser peak with an altitude of 3,404 meters above sea level, the leuser peak at 3,199 meters above sea level, and the highest unnamed peak with an altitude of 3,445 meters above sea level.

Meanwhile, because the hiking trail has a fairly long track, the climb takes 7-8 days because you have to penetrate the wilderness of the Gunug Leuser National Park (TNGL) for 50 km.

3. Mount Dempo

Mount Dempo is located in the city of Pagaralam on the border between the provinces of South Sumatra and Bengkulu. Mount Dempo has an altitude of 3,412 meters above sea level, which makes it the third highest mountain on the island of Sumatra.

Even though it is an active volcano, Mount Dempo is one of the mountains with beginner-friendly tracks because the hiking trails are not too difficult.

To get to Pagaralam City, you need 7 hours if you depart by land, starting from Palembang City.

On the hiking trail, Mount Dempo has 2 official hiking trails that can be started from Village 4 and Tugu Rimau.

Mount Dempo has two peaks, namely Dempo Peak and Api Peak. It also has a crater where the water can change.

The colors of the crater on Mount Dempo include gray, dark green, Tosca green, and blue. Interesting right?

4. Mount Bandahara

Mount Bandahara is located in Gayo Lues Regency, Aceh Province, where there is an endemic within it, namely Napenthes, or what is often called Semar Pockets.

With an altitude of 3,030 meters above sea level, Mount Bandahara occupies the fourth position as the highest mountain on the island of Sumatra and second after Mount Leuser in Aceh.

Mount Bandahara is not an active volcano, so it is safe for climbing activities.

5. Mount Talamau

Mount Talamau, also often called Mount Ophir, is the fifth-highest mountain in West Sumatra, precisely in Pasaman Regency, adjacent to Mount Pasaman, which is not an active volcano.
