Animals that are susceptible to infection with Leptospira bacteria include rats, cattle, dogs, and pigs.

Complications caused by Leptospira bacteria include acute kidney injury, thrombocytopenia, gastrointestinal bleeding, and pulmonary bleeding.

Not only that, sufferers may experience liver failure, damage to skeletal muscles, heart failure, or miscarriage if the sufferer is a pregnant woman.

Leptospirosis will spread through water and soil contaminated with urine from animals infected with Leptospira bacteria.
